For traditional HOLIDAY type activities, there are beaches at the Lac de Guerledan with some kids games plus boat and pedalo hire, boules, fishing, bars and restaurants.

We have had lots of junior school age kids who have enjoyed the lake-side beaches while mum or dad played on the bar terrace (most of our friends are musicians) and the adults have revelled in the simple but faintly exotic country fête atmosphere surrounding the otherwise religious “Pardons”.

Well dressings, parades in traditional costume, heavy horses and large scale communal meals in forest or village square are often followed by Fest Noz or late night Breton dance events , although Festou Noz can equally be tacked on to a mountain bike rally, agricultural show or canoe championship.

Apart from the beaches at the lake, there are swimming pools at Pontivy and Gouarec each about 20mins drive away, and Pontivy has all other services including fashionable shops and bars and large supermarkets.

Eating out locally and nightlife.

Many restaurants only operate at midday and our village bars close by 8pm, although in the big town of Pontivy (16km) and a couple of other places within 20 mins drive, a little late night fun can be had - contact us for details !

Major north and south coast beaches are each about an hour's drive with easy parking at most times of the year. I can recommend respectively St Quay de Portrieux, with an international yachty feel,  an interesting Monday market and NO beach at high tide, and Carnac Plage (the quiet east end, not the Benidorm style west end !)
